Frequently Asked Questions
-
1. Do I need planning permission for a garden room?
In most cases, no. Our garden rooms are designed to fall within permitted development rights, meaning planning permission usually isn’t required. However, certain conditions (like proximity to boundaries or if your home is in a conservation area) may require approval. We’re happy to guide you through it.
-
2. Are your garden rooms usable all year round?
Yes! All of our garden rooms are fully insulated and built with high-quality materials, making them warm in winter and cool in summer. We also offer options for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning if needed.
-
3. How long does it take to build a garden room?
The full process—from design to completion—typically takes between 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your garden room. The build itself usually takes 2 to 3 weeks once we’re on-site.
-
4. What’s included in the price?
Our prices include design, all materials, construction, insulation, windows and doors, internal finishes, and basic electrical installation (lighting and sockets). Optional extras like plumbing, internet, underfloor heating, or bespoke interior features can also be included—just let us know what you need.
-
5. Can I customise the design?
Absolutely. Every garden room we build is bespoke and tailored to your needs—whether it’s a home office, gym, studio, or something else entirely. We’ll work with you to design a space that fits your style and purpose.
-
6. What kind of base do I need?
We’ll assess your site and recommend the most suitable base (usually a concrete slab or concrete pad foundation). We can take care of all base work as part of the project, so you don’t need to organise anything separately.
-
7. Do you handle electrical connections to the house?
We include internal wiring and fittings as standard. Connection to the main house supply is available as an add-on and will be carried out by a qualified electrician. We’ll discuss all options with you during the design phase.
-
8. Can my garden room be used as a guest room or living space?
Yes, it can. Many clients use their garden rooms as occasional guest accommodation or relaxation spaces. If you plan to use it as a bedroom or living space regularly, we can ensure it meets appropriate building standards, just let us know during planning.
-
9. What are your payment terms?
We typically require a 25% deposit to secure your booking, followed by staged payments throughout the project. Full payment terms will be clearly outlined in your quote and contract.
-
10. Is my garden room covered by a warranty?
Yes. All of our garden rooms come with a 10-year structural warranty and manufacturer warranties on materials where applicable. We build everything to last and take pride in the quality of our work.
